Color: Nice dark yellow amber color, translucent to transparent. Copal is fossilized resin, not as mature as true amber. Strictly speaking, only minerals with a high level of succinic acid (ie, Succinite from the Baltic deposits) should be called amber although the name is applied with less rigour to most or all of the world's fossil resin deposits. Other ancient resin including this Copal are classed as retinite.
